The world of home cinema technology is always moving forward, but Toshiba's new CEVO Engine-powered 3D TVs genuinely are a huge step forward, and they're about to go on sale here in the UK. Join us as we introduce the new Toshiba YL and WL Series 3D TVs.

So what makes Toshiba’s YL and WL Series TVs so special, we hear you ask? Well, it's all about a single word: power. The CEVO Engine processors inside these two new flagship ranges offer never-before-seen levels of processing power, and that means faster, more versatile TVs offering more features and better performance. Let's look at just a few examples of what we're talking about:

Optimal image quality at all times
The CEVO Engine processors inside Toshiba's latest YL and WL Series TVs offer multi-core power, which means more dedicated picture processing. In other words, thanks to the CEVO Engine you get more image detail than ever before, ensuring the highest levels of 2D and 3D image quality and unparalleled conversion of 2D images to 3D. Also on board is Toshiba's PRO-LED panel technology, giving you a hybrid back and edge-lit LED display panel that sees a range of dimming zones controlled individually for deep colour, brightness and more consistent contrast than traditional LED TVs.

Powered by the CEVO Engine, it delivers an astounding 800 frames per second refresh rate – for lifelike viewing that’s more than a match for even the fastest-moving on-screen action. The CEVO Engine also powers the latest, most powerful version of Toshiba’s acclaimed Resolution+ image up-scaling technology, ensuring that even lower resolution content (like DVDs and TV broadcasts) can be viewing in near HD quality.

Auto calibration
One of the toughest jobs when buying a new TV – especially one as advanced as the Toshiba YL and WL Series sets – is getting it set up properly for optimum viewing performance. But Toshiba's Auto Calibration feature takes setting up to the next level by helping you optimise your TV settings to suit the content being watched.

It automatically adjusts colour characteristics to match studio levels, enabling you to calibrate your TV settings to industry standards, letting you view a movie specifically as the director intended. The secret sauce is a USB-connected calibration sensor that sends data to the CEVO Engine, where adjustments are automatically made to colour settings and the TV's gamma curve to ensure professional picture quality at all times.

USB HDD Recording
Being able to connect up and watch what's on your external hard drive is one thing, but USB HDD Recording offers you the opposite – the ability to record what's on TV to an external HDD. Just take a few seconds to set up and register your drive with the TV and you're ready to record! Record what you’re watching, or simply set a program to record in future via the TV’s in-built program guide.

Jacob Jensen design
And let's not get so caught up on the components inside these feature-packed 3D TVs that we forget TVs are also about looks. Fortunately with Toshiba you get both, and the new YL Series and WL Series models offer stylish, elegant visual lines thanks to the Toshiba’s collaboration with Scandinavia design icons Jacob Jensen design. And of course, because of that PRO-LED tech on board, they're ultra-thin too, whether you go for the 42-inch, 46-inch or 55-inch screen sizes.

These are just a couple of the great new features to look forward to in the Toshiba YL Series and WL Series sets, which will be touching down in the next month. We'll be taking a closer look at these technologies in detail in the next few weeks, but for now it's certainly plenty to get excited about.
