Toshiba's AT100 is the latest tablet on the block, and delivers an exciting blend of premium  features including an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, a 10.1-inch Trubrite display and cutting-edge OS. Best of all it's on sale as we speak, so how have the UK's tech media covered the arrival of Toshiba's new tablet? Let's take a look.

Mobile site Recombu was been quick to focus on the AT100's key features: “Powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chip and rocking a 10.1-inch screen, the AT100 features a micro USB port along with a full sized USB port an HDMI connection as well.”

The advantage of having the very latest tablet operating system on board the Toshiba AT100 was also not lost on Recombu: “Running on Android 3.1 promises a smooth(er) Honeycomb experience out of the box, plus the ability to plug in peripherals such as USB mice, keyboards and other devices into the AT100.”

In their coverage of the Toshiba AT100's arrival, T3 pointed out that it's right on a par with the leading tablets when it comes to the specification: “Under the hood the tablet packs a the same Tegra 2 processor found in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, 32GB of onboard storage and a seven-hour battery life.”

But of course it's about far more than just specifications, and the AT100 scores some style points too in T3's book “with a rather natty coloured back cover (hewn from finest rubber) for extra grip and fashion cred. It's also something of a looker from the front, with a camera framed in semi-circle of chrome, breaking up the standard tablet-issue black bezel.”

Not a bad start, then, but TechRadar can go one better and has already produced a full review of the Toshiba AT100 based on the US model.

And it makes the valid point that with so many tablet options out there, “having a few unique and well-targeted offerings can help you carve out a niche”. The review goes on: “The AT100 does offer some appeal for more advanced, technically-minded users after customisation options and high benchmark scores.”

It's no secret that the AT100 is quite a substantial piece of equipment, but the plus side is the likes of a full-size HDMI port for connecting to an HD TV. “The full-size USB port is very handy too,” TechRadar added. “We were able to quickly add movies from a USB flash drive to the device. When you insert a mouse, a cursor magically appears (even though it runs a bit too fast). Attach a USB cable for your keyboard, and you can type up longer documents much faster.”

That's what the experts think of the Toshiba AT100, but what we want to know is whether it's already top of your shopping list? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below.
