Toshiba's Camileo camcorders do a stellar job of shooting high definition video for you on the go, but they're not just for making your own movies: they take quality still photos as well. Read on and we'll explain and explore all the features that threaten to kill off your compact once and for all.

Super sharp stills
Both of Toshiba's latest pocket camcorders, the Camileo P100 and Camileo B10, come with a pixel packed CMOS sensor capable of snapping 16 megapixel shots. to put that in perspective, that's images composed of 16 million dots - you can blow them up and print them out without degradation.

Ultra zoom
One of the big advantages compact cameras still have over advanced mobile camera phones and pocket camcorders is an optical zoom - the ability to zoom in before the image is taken, rather than simply zoom in on the image after the fact to create the effect. Except of course if that pocket camcorder is the Camileo P100, which has a 8x magnitude optical zoom, so you can swoop in from afar and grab a great pic.

Bumper storage
Top camera tech wouldn't be much use without plenty of onboard storage to keep all those data packed images - both of Toshiba's new models come with support for the latest SDXC cards. SDXC is the latest standard for SD memory cards - current cards can stash a whopping 64GB of photos and video on board, and that's only going to grow over time.

Slideshow skills
Want to show off your slideshows? While many cameras lack an easy way to check out your results on a bigger screen than your laptop, Toshiba's new Camileo camcorders come with an HDMI connection, so you can easily hook them up to your TV and start an impromptu slideshow. Just make sure your friends are likely to remain your friends after being subjected to your holiday travels.
