The Toshiba BDX3200 is the latest 3D Blu-ray player on the set top box block, capable of playing all the newest high definition movies in jaw dropping stereoscopic view. But it's no one trick pony: inside, you'll find all the kit to make any movie sing, regardless of the dimensions. Read on, and we'll break down all the features for you.
7.1 surround sound
The Toshiba BDX3200 supports the very latest in sound technology, meaning it's an audio whizz as well as a visual one. Dolby True HD 7.1 surround sound means that if you've got the rig set up (Seven speakers around the room, plus a subwoofer), you'll hear and even feel 360 degree sound like you won't even get at the cinema.
HDMI-CEC
The BDX3200 uses a HDMI connection to pump high definition 1080p visuals to your TV, but that cable can also send data back alongside the image stream. The upshot is that with a compatible TV, like a Toshiba REGZA-Link model, you can use its remote to command your Blu-rays as well - or vice versa. It's a handy way to cut the clutter in your living room.
USB playback
You can of course play 2D Blu-rays and DVDs on the Toshiba BDX3200 as well as the latest 3D discs, but support doesn't stop there. Pop a hard drive or memory stick into the USB slot, and you can play back digital files you've downloaded too, in a wide variety of file types and codecs including the popular MKV and DivX, so whatever you've got is likely to play.
BD-Live connection
While you're used to extras on your movies, they're no longer just deleted scenes: they're interactive. Hook the Toshiba BDX3200 up to the internet via its Ethernet connection and you can access all sorts of extra content for your Blu-rays, from trailers to chat rooms and games. It's a lovely little option to have, especially when the kids have watched the film itself to death and still want more.
